39:35.15N 09: 04.33 W After initial lumpy seas between the islands and the mainland, had a very pleasant sail to Nazarė, a popular surfing destination because of the high breaking waves that form, due to the presence of the underwater Nazaré Canyon. The largest wave ever surfed was 28.57 metres(93.73ft). The marina is rated one of the best by many including us, the town, originally just a fishing village, is one of the worst. A lot of tat, very touristy but not high end like Cascais. The area is known for being more affordable. Took a taxi up to O Sitio, up on the cliffs offering a perfect view of the funicular, the town and beach below. ![]() Visited The Sanctuary of our Lady of Nazareth, dominating the square, a 17th century baroque monument. Lovely simple stained glass contrasting with the elaborate gold. ![]() ![]() |
