Fri morning saw a quick visit to the Petrol (Gas) Station to fill up our petrol cans for outboard and generator. Got as close as we could. F had to clamber up the sea defences to cross the road to the Gas Station. The painter was looped round one of the rocks. An unconventional mooring.
A held on to the rope and elicited numerous “good mornings” and quizzical looks from passers-by up above.
Mission accomplished. Back to the boat. Took bikes ashore on the launch and hired a bike for C. Perfect day for a bike ride - mostly cloudy but with a light breeze.
Set off on the Bay to Bay Trail (Mahone to Lunenburg), another former railway line. Stopped for picnic lunch at the only really open part. Kept a watchful eye for bears and/or porcupines. Only spotted a baby squirrel!
C’s bike had massive wheels, perfect for some very sandy sections. Our small wheels made it hard going. C was seen way ahead. A, slow and steady, far behind and F somewhere in the middle!
