They’re a noisy bunch, running their engines all the time, shouting to each other, not to mention the fork lift truck always on the move up and down the dock transporting the catch and crates of ice. It certainly adds variety to the day.
Today, being Sunday, the container port was deserted, ours being the only car there. A had to attack the laundry and arrived at the washing machines ( too basic to be called a laundrette)in the nick of time being “earlier” than a Dutch couple who thought they’d been early enough. Result!
F set about servicing all the winches, starting with the two new ones on the mast. A lot of understandable harrumphing as there was a faulty part which could have caused it to fail, had it not been spotted and replaced. Surprise, surprise F has a multipack of the replacement spares
Fitted all the reefing lines to the mainsail and fitted the newly extended hood over the sail bag. F pleased with his alterations.
Foredeck cleaned twice to get rid of the grime, in readiness for the two other sails, possibly tomorrow, if calm.
A lot of climbing up the ladder to the boat and up and down the steps into the saloon. Our bodies are feeling it. Are we getting fitter?
