F had ordered a few items from the chandlery in Halifax. Had notification they had been dispatched to the yacht club then yesterday morning had a notification they were at Canada Post in Lunenburg. E and S very kindly drove us there too. Turns out Canada Post don’t do home deliveries of parcels. Who knew?! Chandlery obviously didn’t.
Engineer Zak and his Dad arrived promptly with the spare parts. Things didn’t quite go to plan, considerable corrosion on the inside of the heat exchanger was discovered, so this was removed to be refurbished (Ed. grit blast, build up with weld, machine & re-drill, very resourceful these chaps) the alternator will be replaced (Ed. with a more robust unit with a higher output, the current one is approaching the end of its reliable life) and some engine cooling hoses will be replaced.
Should all be done by next Friday. Not holding my breath. A somewhat reduced engine
And a somewhat larger bill!
Will have to provision again next week, after they’ve done the work- just in case.
