Saturday 25th May
During Friday we continued to sail with occasional bits of motor in light winds. The highlight of the day was an encounter with a whale! It seemed to be a solitary whale slowly swimming across our bow. We had to take avoiding action to miss him where he suddenly dived beside the boat to resurface a few feet further on to continue on his way. As per normal, no one had a camera ready to capture his tail wave. We have seen lots of dolphins, some come quite close, and others can be seen frolicking in the distance – too far to get any good photos.
By midnight we had to motor very slowly to conserve fuel as we still have 719 miles to go. Wind is expected later today so fingers crossed.... |
