Virgin Gorda

Monday 13th April to Sunday 19th April
We went back to Vixen Point in Gorda Sound via Spanish town so Frank could change some money at the bank. Ian and Gerry on “Spray” were coming up overnight from St Maarten and should be at the anchorage by the afternoon.
That evening we had a Cruising Association Rendezvous, arranged by the HLR Christopher. We all met on a catamaran “Duplicat” for a very enjoyable evening. Ian and Gerry were going to join us but were too tired after there overnighter so we arrahged to catch up with them the next day.
The following day we met Christopher and his wife Vivian, lus Ian and Gerry and all had a very nice lunch at Saba Rock. The itinerary for the rendezvous was a sail out to Anegada, but as it was quite windy and the seas fairly rough, Christopher didn’t want to take his motor boat. So we said our goodbyes, and May meet up with them later in our trip.
We were quite pleased not to go to Anegada the following day as we had some sail repairs to do. We had moved the boat from Vixen Point to an anchorage at the Bitter End yacht club which was quite sheltered from the wind so we were able to get the sail up and do the repairs. We also noticed that the first reef line had a worn piece so we decided to reverse the line so the worn bit was in the rope on the coach roof.
Ian had met up with some fellow Oyster owners who were taking part in the Oyster Regatta so he went out racing for 2 days. We had a little trip down the bay to Leverick bay to pick up some supplies and then returned to The Bitter End anchorage.
Also in the anchorage were Lyn and Bob from Isle Jeudi who came across to say hello. The last time we had seen them was in Jolly Harbour the previous year. They had spent 5 weeks in St Maarten getting things fixed. Who’d own a boat...
