From Admiralty bay Bequia we headed south to
Clifton on Union Island, to check out and stay over night. Not a very
pleasant sail – in the open sea we were getting gust up to 30 knots so had 2
reefs in the main, and a reefed genoa, and the sea was coming from the north
east so the waves were skewing the boat around. The autopilot couldn’t
cope so we had to hand steer. Once we got in the lee of the next island
Canounan, the sea was calmer and we had a much more enjoyable sail.
We picked up a buoy in the bay and took a water
taxi to the shore to check out at the airport. As it was a Saturday we had
to pay overtime (again)! |
