Tuesday 1st August to Saturday 5th August

Went straight in to Connanicut Marina in Jamestown as we need to take the main sail down as we need a small repair doing; plus the Life Raft is going to be serviced and a new battery for the EPIRB fitted while we are back in the UK.

Wednesday
Moved out onto a mooring ball in the bay (victor 4). The marina launch service is very good so we don’t have to launch the dinghy.

Thursday
Went across to Newport on the ferry that runs from the marina.  A bit disappointed that there is no board walk all the way along the front.  Water edge taken up with marinas, hotels and some restaurants. Had lunch in a restaurant overlooking the water .  Wandered around the very nice residential streets of Newport and passed the hotel that Verity worked in about 20 years ago. Now called the Grace Vanderbilt Inn.

Friday
Decided to take all the canvas down in case there is some bad weather coming through whilst we are away. The marina will keep an eye on the boat for us, and do a pump - out on Monday.

Saturday
Was going to hire a car to get to Boston airport but won’t pick us up on a Saturday morning, so will use Uber to get to Boston. Also cheaper then rental car.  Also the weather was horrible – torrential rain most of the way to Boston (about 70 miles) much better than us driving!
