As we were only 80 km from Galle Harbour we
could have an easy day making our way long the coast. One final job for Amy was
to organise lunch, she chose Mirissa Beach, a very wise decision. We parked up
at the end and walked through the surf to the restaurants dotted along the
beach, choosing Bay Moon, where we all ate fish and chips - it'd be rude not
to!

a whole maze of things, cows on the beach, fishermen selling their catch at the
side of the road, families swimming in the sea, a game of cricket being played
on the beach and most interesting of all, stilt fishermen perching precariously
like stalks above the waves at high tide. Each fishermen has a pole firmly
embedded in the sea bottom, close to the shore, from which they perch on their
poles and cast their lines. These stilt positions are passed down from father to
son and are highly coveted.
