This is the largest town in SW Greenland, about
3,000 people. A busy harbour, but we
squeezed in on a pontoon among the local boats. When we went to find
the harbour master, we were told Sunday was his day off.
It is a much tidier and Danish town than the
villages, with proper roads and a good shower in the seaman's hostel.
Many of the people were more European than
Innuit.
 We met a couple of Americans from Alaska, who got
engaged in the Faroes a couple of years ago and are planning to get married in
Greenland. They have the American form already signed. We offered to
take them out to an iceberg, but they did not seem keen.
The usual fish market was selling whale
meat (probably dolphin by the tail size) and we summoned the courage to buy
some.
We can now catch the fish they sell and could not
quite bring ourselves to try blubber or seal meat which they also
had.
