Hi Folks,
Well the days are getting longer and the temp is
rising, gone are the thermals and summer socks and jeans are out of the bottom
draw at last, not quite shorts but my blood must be thickening .
After our shaken and stirred experience the
other night we asked around to see whether we were the only ones who thought it
was a big un, we weren't disappointed as everybody agreed that it was the
biggest jolt they had had for a while.
Anyway I have now assembled some of the photos of
the South Island as shown below hope you all enjoy . . .
![]() The road to the ski fields at Cadrona
..
![]() Nearing the top of the ski field entrance . .
.
![]() Parked up and ready for the slopes, didn't take a
photo but the whole front of the van was buried in snow .
![]() A view of Queenstown from the jetty on the
lake.
![]() The journey to Franz Joseph Glacier
![]() More pics of the road trip.
![]() Nearing the west coast, were the rain started and
didn't stop for two days !
![]() Single track bridges are the norm down south
.
![]() The wet stuff on its way down the mountain, this is
the underside of the bridge above .
![]() At the foot of Franz Joseph glacier, named by an
Austrian explorer in the early 1800's a certain Mr Hass, who has the village
some 50 k back named after him .
![]() Close up, and cold, this is only 200 meter above
sea level .
