Pippa and Fabian arrived on 28th and come and join us in our hotel room at Te Moana where we had escaped for 2 nights of comfort and clean sheets and showers, and a beautiful infinity pool overlooking Mo’orea. It was great to see such old friends and we had a fun time sightseeing in Papeete - the market especially fab, and the former palace gardens of the queen of Tahiti, Pōmare IV. The Tahiti Museum was also very good and gave us some concept of the magnificence of the Polynesian voyages across the Pacific before the arrival of the Europeans. Other friends, Philip and Sarah Syborn were also in Tahiti at the same time, having been staying on the Oyster Babiana, and we had some wonderful lunches/suppers together before they flew home and we left for
Mo’orea.
