Well we have gone from one extreme to the other! (with a few good hours sailing in between).

Today (Sunday) the wind has increased to gale force and we have taken quite a pounding all day (as you can see from the previous blog sent earlier today).  Have decided to heave to at 1800 hours this evening.  'Catou' is more comfortable and not pounding or taking heavy seas as earlier.  Forecast is for at least two more days of this gale,  so it's a grim prospect sitting here going backwards in a SE'ly direction at 2.5 knots and drifting north of the Cape Verde Islands.  But we are safe and have battened down the hatches.  Somehow Sylvie has managed to produce a great pasta dish.  Gin holding out well. Will have to read our books that we were saving for the downwind sailing in the non-existent Trade winds!
