We left Ft Lauderdale bright (well, a bit tired
actually) and early. We have to admit that we motor-sailed the entire
way across the rockin rollin Gulf Stream rather than torturing the gooseneck and
rig with the constant rolling. (Yes, I am more of a conservative engineer than
as sailor)!
Anyway, we got to Bimini and anchored in the
lee under a yellow flag for a bit of a rest and sleep. We had a shower and
it was so warm we dried off in the breeze! (Just as well there was no-one
looking!) Had a bit of a sleep and then got going about 1am across the
banks towards Nassau. There was a reasonable wind and we sailed until
midday by which time we were only a few hours out of Nassau. Somehow
there's nothing like sailing in the foggy dark along at 7kts with only a
few metres of water beneath you!
Anyway - we got to Nassau in time for tea, checked
in and anchored just after dark in the usual 'rubbish dump' opposite
Atlantis and had a fine sleep!
