8:15 Depart Palaiokastritas for Paxos. No wind, under motor, water maker on. Noted a rattle emanating in the aft berth. Checked motor shaft at through hull bearing, no vibration. Lowered engine revs to 1,800 from 2,000 and rattle noise dropped to negligible, at higher revs it was very noticeable. So ran at 1,800 rpm. Spoke to John, expect it is the cutlass bearing, which has not been changed in the +2,800 motor hours. Will dive the boat, now we are anchored off Gaios, Paxos to check for shaft movement at the bearing bracket. Will also check the shaft anode, which was replaced at the Multinautica yard in Capo d'Orlando, to ensure it is secured tight. Checked the new shaft anode, it was secure and tight. Could not sense any movement of the shaft in the cutlass bearing however, given the engine hours, it is the likely cause of the noise at engine speed of 2000rpm or more. Will keep revs at 1,800 and get the bearing replaced in the off season. Went ashore in the dinghy. Gaios is all action with many shops open with a great variety of local craft, jewellery etc. We had dinner, excellent service, food and wine, at the Volcano restaurant, returning to the boat at 10:30pm.

Gaios, Paxos very popular island

Many good restaurants and local shops. Volcano restaurant provided great service, food and wine
