Smoking Volcanoes!

"What about the wildlife?", I hear you ask. Yes, we
saw some elegant-but-naughty Frigate birds and , yes , we saw some lobsters,
jumping fish, flying fish and flying ants but, what about the big stuff, you
know, like dolphins ? Dolphins are not so common in these parts. " I saw a
dolphin", said Herb. Nobody else did. As I said, dolphins are rare in these
parts. As we upped anchor and left Barbuda we saw
three dolphins following us out of the reef then half-an-hour later, a
pod of ten appeared off the starboard bow. This being the Caribbean, they
didn't jump and gambol in the bow wave; rather they had a quick look, lost
interest and swam away.
Did we mention the Baracuda? We saw a four foot
monster hanging out underneath the hull but were assured it was harmless
despite the impressive teeth, and went for a swim with it. Needless to
say we pushed Herbie in first!
On the way back the sea resembled that of the
Needles Channel, slightly rough, windy and choppy....Only 10 degrees warmer,
full of flying fish and a recently active volcano off the starboard bow.
Montserrat is quite spectacular even from 20 miles away. "Captain Bill, I
don't want to sound worried, but isn't that steam coming from the top of the
volcano?" "It might be cloud......" All being well we plan to go
there later in the week.
In the meantime, we headed for Mamore Bay, passing
Discovery 67, hull No. 3 on the way. Mamora was interesting the buoyed channel
had been removed, the marina was unresponsive to our radio calls and when a lady
came out in a rescue vessel she thought the channel was about deep enough!!
Luckily a fishing vessel passed by and told us all was safe and well to moor up
against the club pontoon.
While we were away enjoying the club facilities,
that is, sailing Hobies, kayaks and pedeloes, Bill and Nathalie cleaned the
Tilly Mint within an inch of its life to admiring glances from all the club
residents. We are about to settle down to yet another excellent culinary
creation by the talented Nathalie. We hear it is snowing in the UK, hee
