Well after a boisterous three days, today was
excellent sailing. Off the wind almost all day and cruising at 8 - 9
knots.
Trish has found her sea legs again and took
over all galley duties and watch keeping duties to give me some time off. A
great dinner of Chicken Casserole was made just as the line zinged!
We caught our biggest Tuna yet! A big fat fellow
that I took almost fifty one inch thick steaks off! Well that's it, no
more fishing till we get past Mauritius.
The sailing and sea conditions today made the first
few days well worth while. Like life - you have to grind through the tough days
as there will always be better days ahead. Always a "calm" after the
"storm".
Trish took a few photos last night while the sea
was still rough. Bear in mind that these photos are taken from eye level
three metres above sea level on our aft deck. As any of you who go to sea
will know it is very hard to get a photograph of the sea to do justice to the
conditions. Anyway we thought these photos nicely sum up the end of a
"lumpy" three days.
The rudder stock is hanging in there after
tightening though it is slowly working loose again and the jib furler problem
was coming from a spinaker halyard wrapped round the top of the stay which I was
able to free once the weather settled without going up the
mast.
Three hundred miles to go now.
