We've covered about
136nm in the last 24 hours. Mostly sailing, with some motorsailing and some
motoring early last night.
The wind has been
pretty quiet, nothing above 15kts and the sea is pretty flat. We had some great
sailing overnight and this morning, close hauled in about 10-12kts making 5-6kts
in some nice flat seas. We've been working our way south to make sure that we
can lay the islands in anticipation of a forecast wind shift. Looking at the
latest files that is now going to be less severe, so we've freed off and now
making for the islands, although the wind has dropped to about 5-6kts now, and
we're having to stick to about a beam reach with the big kite up just to keep
the sails filled. Still, we're making about 5kts through the water and it's nice
and sunny.
The only thing we
seem to be able to catch on the fishing line is the other line - some untangling
to do this afternoon, but we're still hopeful.
Still 273miles to
go, so a good couple of days yet, hopefully we'll get in during the 7th - which
will be good, since it looks like the wind is going to drop even further about
then.
