BREAKFAST IN CRUZ BAY

POSITION: N18:19.84 W064:48.01 CRUZ BAY, ST JOHN USVI
17 April 2015 BREAKFAST IN CRUZ BAY Dawn saw David let the mooring go and a pleasant hour long motor acrossPILLSBURY SOUND to the beautiful island of St JOHN – much of which is a nature reserve – and my favourite spot of CRUZ BAY, the hub of the island. For here you can relax to a fine breakfast outside under the umbrellas, and watch the ferry folk come and go to and from St THOMAS. It was a porker, with David having a veggie version, but disappointingly NO HASHBROWNS! This was due to a change of ownership, verdamnt! With no room, as usual, in the inlet to anchor, Pinball was stuck outside in the main channel, not too happy about that so returned afterwards with a plan; I would take Pinball around the North of the island to a mooring in FRANCIS BAY – an idyllic spot – whilst David walked there around the coast road to burn off youthful energy. He duly arrived at dusk and called me up on the handheld VHF for a pickup.
The next leg East would be a long hard one. USVI to St MAARTEN, 80nm due East in an Easterly trade wind, with Equatorial current against us. PIC: CRUZ BAY |
