UTC 0954 We made it. About 0245 we dropped the anchor at Punta Menga, on the South West coast of Sardinia. Do not like anchoring at night, in places I’ve never seen… Yes, I know the rule #1 — “ Do not do it!!! “. And never the less, to plan the proper day time arrival on the distances 200+ nm — never worked for me… RYA has an addition to above rule, rule#2: “ Rule #1 would never work…”, and they provided some advices what to do… Apparently those advices were useful. At least, they provided the thought that it is possible to drop the anchor in such situation, and do it reliably more then once on your trips. The last couple of hours, on approach, it was blowing enough to speed us up to 7+ knots… And as it was getting darker and darker — the speed and waves seemed to be getting higher and bigger… But then the miracle happened - the waves gone, and the last 2 hours we were rushing at high speed to potential bay ahead… Over dark and flat water… As if the boat was getting the same feeling of light tightness and would like to go to anchor, and have a rest… A bit of manoeuvring, dodging from the few buys, which tend to appear from nowhere… and we are on anchor. 0245… Nearly full Moon. During the next 30 minutes the wind gone… He did his job also… The current Spanish chapter of the travel is over, the Italian chapter is next… The morning welcomed with a sunny day, nice view of white sandy beach, a couple of miles long… and announcement from the weather forecast that the mistrial is coming tomorrow… We will see! ;-) Mean time — a good rest, cleaning the boat, and making plans for the next stops. Everything is fine on board, Talk to you soon. M. Phone, whatsapp, & text: +1(514)609-5645 |
