Well had a very grey arrival into Greece after a very nice night sail from Italy. The cliffs were very reminiscent of The Cliffs of Dover complete with black waters and very overcast skies.Winds having been a very steady 12-15 knts initially died off to about zilch and then in a matter of moments quickly accelerated up to 25-30knts and then the heavens opened and we had to quickly don our "oilies", something we have not worn since The Atlantic!!!
At this stage we are feeling quite exhausted from our night sail and are hoping that we will be able to anchor sometime soon.
Found an anchorage in the bay of Gaios which had been recommended to us by some Americans.Roccna bit first time in sand and weed but we were not too happy about the large swells that were coming inshore. As we were both so tired we decided to keep an anchor watch just to be on the safe side.Things really did not improve but we were loath to up anchor in search of another bay due to our fatigue and the not knowing if the next bay would be any better!!
Next morning after a very tiring rolly night we decided that we had had enough and up anchored and moved further north.
Peace at last in the form of Lakka Bay,we were a little apprehensive about anchoring here as we had heard numerous reports regarding a plague of rats!!!
We will be keeping Lilly on guard!!

After a more than earned peaceful sleep we awoke to clear skies and the view of a typical Greek Island harbour with turquoise seas and the most British ensigned yachts we have seen all season.
Got chatting with another English couple ,Robert and Susie, who were able to enlighten us as to facilities on the Island as they are frequent visitors to these shores and keep their boat in Corfu for the winter.
Apparently the olives that are grown on this island are used in the making of olive oil that is bought by Harrods and is quite distinct in its flavour, it is very light and is not used for cooking but should only be used as a dressing or a dip.

Paxoi is a lovely little village with lots of Tavernas and cafes dotted along the small seafront.Going ashore we walked up to the lighthouse to enjoy the views. On our way down the hill we stopped in at the Olive Oil warehouse and bought 4litres of the stuff to see for ourselves if it really is that good!
Tonight we are going ashore to one of the sea front restaurants to treat ourselves to our first Greek meal here.
